As people begin to file out, stand next to the hymn bookrack and collect hymnals and used bulletins. Be sure to greet people and smile. Your hospitality continues until the end. Make a pile of the used bulletins and place them in the basket. We practice recycling. After everyone has exited the nave, go through the area looking for discarded bulletins and other trash. If you find a purse or other personal items, watch them for 10 or 15 minutes. If the owner does not return, collect them and give them to the pastor to be secured in the office. Make a note of what you found and who you gave it to. Do not go through the purse or personal items. Special Post 11:00 Service Duties After the 11:00 service ushers have four primary responsibilities that are important to the saving money for the church and safely securing the building.
If people still remain in building, ask them to turn off the lights before they leave. If they wish to keep a door unlocked, teach them how to lock the door. It is important that you leave feeling confident that the building will be secure.
